Foil stamping -

is the application of pigment, metallic or holographic foil, gold or silver, but can also be various patterns, colors or what is known as pastel foil which is a flat opaque color or white special film-backed material, to paper where a heated die is stamped onto the foil, making it adhere to the surface leaving the design of the die on the paper. Foil stamping can be combined with embossing to create a more striking 3D image.

Embossing -

is the process of creating a three-dimensional image or design in paper and other materials.

Blacklight ink or blacklight-reactive Ink -
is ink that glows under a black light, a source of light whose wavelengths are primarily in the ultraviolet.
  • The ink may or may not be colorful under ordinary light.
  • Blacklight inks can be mixed with similar shades of normal pigments, "brightening" them when viewed in sunlight.

Ultra Violet Transparent Ink -

is high gloss ink placed across tickets in a pattern or graphic of choice.  UV has high reflectivity and can easily be seen by tilting the ticket from side to side providing a low cost counterfeiting deterrent.

Thermochromic Ink -

are inks that, when printed, allow for a color change to occur upon temperature changes.  Special colorants are utilized which change color as the temperature changes.  In most cases, the colorant has an inherent color which fades within a certain temperature range, known as the colorant’s “set point.”  This change from colored to colorless is reversible, in that the color returns once the temperature falls below the set point again. Temperature set points can range from 5C to 50C, but the transition will occur over a 2-3 degree change in temperature. Security applications often use a 29C version that will show the color disappear as pressure and body heat is applied with a finger. A special class of irreversible thermochromics are available that can provide for sterilization indicators, or indicators of high heat exposure. These are available in a few limited colors for temperature set points from 65C to about 140C.

Holograms -
can be applied to a specific location on a product like on a credit card to provide authenticity.  Holograms can be customized with specific features or designs.
  • Amlon Industries does not manufacture holograms. All holograms for use on printed products must be supplied in the form of a pressure sensitive label.

Security Die Cuts/Perforations/Punches -
can be used as counterfeiting deterrents.
  • Custom designs are available.

Diecuts

Coin Reactive Ink -

appears to be transparent until a coin is rubbed in the area where an image was printed.  A special formulation picks-up the metallic particles and reveals a hidden image.
